Lower back exercise: Hyperextensions

September 13, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

Hyperextensions are a great way to work out your lower back. In fact, whenever I’m at Equinox doing a back workout, I always start off with hyperextensions. The reason is simple. After I do them, my back feels straight and aligned. This in turn gives me better posture as I do my other back exercises. When I’m on the hyperextension machine I do 4 sets of 20, 15, 20, and 15. I do them without weights, but I’ll probably add weights (in the form of a 25-lb. plate) soon. People ignore their lower back a lot, and yet I know so many people with lower back problems. Just something to keep in mind next time you’re at the gym doing your back routine.
